When I sat down with Jessica Contreras, our Buyer Specialist here at The Contreras Team with Windermere Professional Partners, the conversation flowed as easily as if we were two friends catching up over coffee (made much easier by our 20+ years of marriage of course!). Jessica’s style with clients is much the same, warm, intuitive, and deeply personal.
Bob: Jessica, when people talk about you, they always mention how much heart you bring to the buying process. What draws you to working with buyers?
Jessica: It’s the thrill of the hunt. There’s that first meeting where I start to understand what people think they want. Then we tour homes that seem to fit that picture, or at least most of it. That’s when I start watching closely, not just what they say, but how they react when they walk through the door.
As she describes it, I can tell that for Jessica, the process is more about discovery than sales. She doesn’t rush to fill silence or convince anyone of a property’s potential. Instead, she watches for those small, telling moments, the quick smiles, the thoughtful pauses, that speak louder than words.
Bob: It sounds like you read a lot between the lines. What are you looking for during those tours?
Jessica: I watch for the subtle things, how their shoulders relax, how their eyes light up, or even how their breathing changes when they step into a space that connects with them. It’s not just about hearing what they say, it’s about seeing what they feel. Those moments tell me more than a list of must haves ever could.
It’s clear that Jessica’s empathy guides her intuition. Her approach is a blend of intuition and observation, like a quiet kind of detective work built on empathy. It’s part psychology, part artistry, and completely rooted in care.
Bob: I’ve seen you in those moments with clients. It’s like watching someone read minds.
Jessica: Exactly. (Jessica laughs and blushes a bit) I just like to give them space to feel what they’re feeling. Then I take those cues and use them to adjust the search. Maybe they light up when they see natural light streaming through big windows or pause longer than usual staring into a backyard. That tells me something. That allows me to explore beyond the parameters they originally set, and that’s when we often find the perfect fit, the home they didn’t even know they were looking for.
Jessica leans forward as she says this, eyes bright. Her enthusiasm isn’t about the transaction, it’s about the moment a client realizes their true desires. She seems to live for those sparks of recognition.
Bob: You have an uncanny knack for helping clients discover something deeper than what they started out wanting.
Jessica: If you say so! It’s just what I love most. Everyone begins with an idea of what they want, like the number of bedrooms, the budget, maybe a neighborhood. But once they start walking through homes, the real story starts to unfold. They start realizing what truly matters to them, and I get to help them see that.
There’s a calm confidence in the way she talks about her work. She treats every search as a partnership, one built on curiosity and trust rather than pressure.
Bob: You’ve often said that finding “the one” can feel a little like a movie moment.
Jessica: It really can. It’s a little like the end of a romantic movie, where the two main characters finally find each other after searching the whole story. When a buyer walks into the right home, you can see it on their face. It’s joy, relief, hope and connection all at once. That moment is everything. It’s why I love doing this.
Her description makes me smile because I’ve seen it too, the pause, the stillness, and then the certainty that this is the place. For Jessica, those moments are as rewarding as any closing.
Bob: You bring such heart to this role. I think that’s what our clients connect to, that sense that you’re not just their agent, you’re their partner in the search.
Jessica: That’s how I see it. I never feel like I’m out shopping with clients. It feels like I’m helping a new best friend find their home. I’m there to guide, protect, and celebrate with them. I want them to know they can count on me, on US. It’s important that they feel supported, heard, and confident from start to finish.

Jessica: I’d say take the time to really sit down and think about what you want your life to feel like.
